Steamed Oysters

We have access to fresh local oysters every week through our buying club and well, I’ve totally fallen in love with them. Not only are they packed with nutrients, including Zinc and Iron, they are absolutely delicious!

This week I wanted something a bit faster so I steamed them as you would clams. I put a couple inches of water in the bottom of a sauce pan and placed a bowl bottom up so I could place the oysters on top of it without submerging them in the water. Bring the water to a boil and just as they pop open turn off the heat.

The shells comes off easily and oh my they are wonderful. I really can’t say enough about eating this wonderfully nutrient dense real food!

Serve them with melted fresh butter and you are set.
